GREECE

GREECE: Like most Melbourne kids of the 1970s, I have a deep connection to Greece: my first foreign swear words were Greek. It’s also one of the first countries I was taught about in history and geography classes.
Sparticus, Athens, Golden Fleeces and Argonauts. Olympics. Souvlaki and ouzo.
When it come to “steeped in history” Greece has but a few rivals. Their soldiers were legendary. Their kingdoms large and powerful. Greek sailors ruled the seas, and their gods the sky above.
Greece’s island and beaches are famous, but their mountainous mainland provinces are not shabby at all.
We are looking forward to another short visit in 2020. The second of many we hope. Well, until some dickhead ate a pangolin, we were.
