LEBANON

The country that gave the world Lebanese food, for which we should all say thanks, is better known for a series of brutal and complex civil wars and external conflicts. Pity. Squashed up between the sea and Syria, this compact strip offers you the chance to party all night, wake up with a dip at the beach, and ski in the afternoon.
The temples of Balbek are among the most extravagant monuments around. Ancient cities on the coast of Tyre and Sidon are fascinating places to wander. Tripoli is a hodge-podge city of mosques, markets, lane ways, and where soap was invented. Almost every Lebanese has family overseas, so don’t be surprised if your taxi driver lived in your home town.

NORTHERN LEBANON: TRIPOLI, BYBLOS AND BCHARRE.
