KOSOVO

HANDS DOWN the best place we visited in our wee Balkans trip.
Ticked all the boxes: good food, friendly people, compact and easy to get around, old cities and country towns.
When Yugoslavia splintered into 37 different countries, the ethnic Albanian residents of what became Serbia, the Kosova, wanted out. A bloody war of indepence in the 90s followed.
Tensions do boil over from time to time, but you will be warmly welcomed by both Serb and Kosova.

PRISTINA: Old, new, history and hope.

PRIZREN: Don’t miss it.

PEC & GJAKOVA: Picking favourites never easy.
