HOME TO Inzaman Al-Haq, one of Pakistan’s finest, albeit laziest, cricketers, Multan has also played host to the world’s great conquerors, from Alexander, the Mongols, and Amir Timur. But it was a day at the cricket which sticks in my mind. It seemed like the whole city was headed to the ground, which was cloaked in a ring of security. Inside the action and noise was frenetic, but the hospitality of the Pakistani army and police towards us was memorable too.
