LAKE MALAWI

If the rigours of travelling through Africa wear you down, and they will, Lake Malawi could be just the recipe.
An overnight journey (pitch you tent on the deck) of the Merchant Vessel Illala, Likoma Island is an idylic retreat. Wading through the waters with your bagd held aloft is a small price to pay.
Beacuse this is what awaits. Swim, hammock, eat, repeat.
There are many short and easy hikes across the interior of Likoma. This fine old stone cathedral in the main port town is well worth a visit.
But the sunset views may be as far as you venture.
